About me

My name is Anna-Kaisa (AK) Varjus. I’m a Helsinki-based designer with over 15 years of experience from art direction to strategic and service design. I am also a trained advocate for sustainability.

To me, design is both a mindset and a practice.

I’m at my best when identifying the most meaningful problems worth solving and turning them into validated and resilient concepts with a clear path forward.

My work is guided by sustainability and a life-centric approach.

Life-centric approach ensures outcomes that serve real needs profitably, create positive societal impact, and advance circular and regenerative futures within planetary boundaries.

I operate comfortably at the strategic level, translating big-picture thinking into actionable results while having a hands-on attitude.

My track record spans both public and private sectors, with work in circularity, regenerative agriculture, the built environment, transportation, finance, healthcare, and the development of digital services that support these domains.

I love collaborating with people and organisations that create positive change.

I’m a proud board member of Oma Maa, a local CSA cooperative, and co-founder of Sustinaires ry, the Association for Digital Sustainability.

If this resonates, feel free to drop me a line.
